A relation said to me: “You have been sober for over a year; do you need to attend anymore meetings?”
“Yes” is the answer as the programme is aimed for you to stop self deprecating and defeating.
We as alcoholics, and once very angry people to the excess,
People who haven’t been to that place or can’t focus on our ‘all or nothing’ ways
They haven’t got that desire to continue drinking, that state of mind was ours, which we once wanted to stay.
We can only stay on this earth for so long
People who are in the rooms of A.A.,are seeking a new power that shall make you strong,
They need to attend to give a share on how they are feeling
The alcohol is so blinded, you don’t know when you are reeling.
I am in the rooms
I speak to people about my sobriety, and I listen to them, as we crave peace,
Step 1 to 3 surrendering to a higher power and learning that you can’t go on through my own accord
The other steps are actions, which can be painful; but on the other side you shall never get bored.
Recovery is a gift
Because you are here to tell the tale,
We say the pledge and reflections of the day
I speak to God always, and you don’t need to phone to get through,
Today is a blessing, and thank you for your higher power for the chance to be present and looking at the similarities in the rooms.
