This A.A. Life

​This life is brilliant 
Well I suppose it’s been a pivotal time to be dry, 
I no longer crave for drink of alcohol, compared if I kept going I would inevitably die. 

This A.A. life you meet friends quickly
And if you are empath then you shall meet more, 
You will give a chair and learn from mistakes that you once adored. 

You see life as a recovery alcoholic is a blessing 
It’s a second, third, fourth or further chances to work the programme and make amends
The journey of sobriety has now become a loyal and humble friend. 

I knew I was an alcoholic since I was a young boy drinking that fosters, from which I liked the buzz
The endorphins which are released in the body to give you a thrill, 
Next minute it becomes a part of your life, which is a telling chill. 

I am pleased I stopped in the nick of time
I had to do it on my terms, but accepting God as my divine. 

The A.A. Rooms are supportive and loving 
The A.A. Rooms are welcoming and my family today,
May you find peace with your soul, and through your higher power you can obey.
