People’s recovery is different (A.A. Poem)

​People come in all types,
And characteristics do vary,
After all none of us can be the same, 
We can have similar traits but all we have is today.

Recovery is like that, 
Some adopt the programme of 12 steps and AA after treatment,
But we need to keep reminding ourselves we only have today, 
Nothing else matters as God decides our future, the principle is a strong hold to keep you at bay.

We are addicts after all, 
We no longer need to put ourselves down, 
There is a higher power moving towards us, we need to focus on that, otherwise we will drown.

Some people don’t make it
Some people go back and think it will be alright, 
The programme of the steps and the A.A. Meetings will hold you tight
The first step forward is the start of a spiritual and humble fight.
