80s nostalgia

​England football team returned to the World Cup stage in 1982 and 1986,
Losing out to Germany and Argentina respectively, the latter match was infamous for the ‘hand of God’ which came into the mix. 

Music had lyrics 
And wasn’t on a monotone vibe,
There were sounds of encouragement just like the film called ‘staying alive’.

Yes, we had our struggles all generations do,
Those were the days when pen, paper and pencil worked out a letter or piece of art, including numerical clues.

People use to speak slowly as technology was often put away,
As I get older I miss those days which I hoped returned one day.

There was 3 to channels to turn on and played at a scheduled time, 
Recorders were a luxury as like video games which was played by a tape that often had to be rewind.

Those were the days
Yes, they weren’t perfect as nations often fought,
Reminiscing a moment in this memory back which has been often caught.
