Avoid the pessimism

Avoid the negatives 
And concentrate on the positives that can relay,
Where there is something bad that takes place, there is also something good that stays.

Avoid the ‘all seriousness’ types
As I too don’t live in a utopian world, 
I am here for the present,
I am not here to live in resentment. 

Live your life 
I have said this countless times to myself and others in the past,
One thing for absolute certain, not all things last. 

Keep those with negative thoughts away,
They aren’t bad people, they just compare themselves to others, and inside themselves they get out of the way. 

It’s today we have
Enjoy it, do something pleasant and nice, 
Not this pessimistic attitude.. that never entices.

There is a time to keep your peace
There is a time to learn how to release, 
There is a time to evaluate and discern, 
There is a time to stay humble and remember what through your faith you are allowed to learn.

There is a time to call it ‘quits’
There is a time to form humble duty, and not fall in bits, 
There is a time to keep growing everyday,
And there is a time to feel strong and don’t allow the battle to get in your way.

There is a time when humbleness grows, 
The fight for fight sake does not live in a puddle, 
There is always questions, just don’t allow yourself to get into a muddle. 

Remember you are here, just like a battery waiting to expire, 
Even what you do now doesn’t need to be admired.

And remember, today is all you have.. so live in the present for what joy you are able to bring.

A quiet life

I don’t need your chaos
None of us need the added stress,
I know God has presented me to you, so I pray for you, therefore, slow down and duress. 

I pray for calm to stay intact,
I pray for hope in your heart, 
I pray for love of God to fall on you, and that negative feelings shall depart soon. 

There shall always be struggles, as not all things will be plain sailing, 
This is a simple prayer for you not to be unwavering.

That is what happens when you are looking for peace,
Everyone is accountable, that’s the truth in the least.

Worrying can be our default?
That’s the ‘concern’ I am referring too,
We care for a soul, a human being, and being in their presence is what we ensue. 

But we can’t do much
Unless an action shall take place, 
And that’s where God has a place for us to face.

And finding a solution,
We are on this life for so long, 
so don’t waste that moment we have right now,
No point procrastinating or feeling at all fowl.

Learning to live with this condition.

Diabetes, the curse of my life
Yet, I embrace it, especially when I have to endure the pain
Yet the struggle shall always be there, 
I am just articulating my message for myself and others, nothing else to share.

The hypos are aggressive
The strain never leaves, 
The glucose monitor explains how a type 1 is feeling, 
I get hypos daily, and just like a chocolate cake, one I am unable to have a chance of consume or be stealing. 

The hypos are aggressive
The hypos are short and can be long, 
They can take a day away from me, in context, 
Wanting to eat all the carbohydrates to raise all this nonsense.

I get through, I have no choice
I tool speak on behalf of fellow diabetics, who too have no choice, 
Yet we get on with life, and if you are like me it’s a struggle
There isn’t a day I don’t have to balance blood sugars to make things right
Today is another day… so us with this condition need to continue to fight.

Praying for you every day
Praying for you to have your say,
You can’t please everyone, so choose your fights very carefully
If you need to fight at all? I prefer to live life preferably cheerfully. 

Select your conversations in what suits, 
And not everything suits us all!
I am more into optimism, sport, entertainment and those stories to tell
I know the world isn’t like that these days.. but I rather not say ‘that’s sad’, that goes down not so well.

The world is unrest, and it’s ‘us’ causing the endless debate
This kind of behaviour is too intense, 
I rather have a quiet life.. say nothing, and stand on the fence. 

You can’t change peoples opinions, 
You can’t control what others attempt to say, 
I am more into writing these poetic verses, but then again, we are all different… artistic words is where I prefer to stay.

Don’t be hard on you

Life can throw some unexpectant’s circumstances at you, especially on the road that we look to ensue.

It’s a shame when people have lost their focus on politics more than people who are able to amuse,

It’s about being fair
But that doesn’t seem to be the way these days,
All conversations are hidden in the meeting rooms, as public voices appear a little grey. 

Today is a positive day
Because I didn’t argue with anyone about this or that, 
I suggest lifting a weight above your head, or focus on something spiritually tethered,
These are the times which need to be weathered. 

Spiritual growth takes the politics away,
It’s about humbling your heart, simply for today.

It begins today

Some of us take pressure really well
Some collapse; so here’s my story from which I am about to tell.

You see, mine was through grief, as I didn’t think I had a problem 
The drink felt good as I didn’t know what to do!
Drinking was my best friend as this path I was about to embark and ensue.

I struggled with the thoughts in my head
People assuming I could help with them, but I was crying in my head and heart instead.

Then the realisation took place 
I continued being drunk and waiting to die,
I didn’t think I had a solution, therefore waiting for God to call me, and waiting to say to eventually say ‘goodbye’.

We are here for each other
And that is a great trait,
As we greet each other, and refuse an awkward debate.

The pressure is real
As we lost our way,
It’s only until God says ‘it’s time to come home child’ from that moment we cannot stay.

It’s amazing how this substance throws you side ways, 
But in the rooms we have a spiritual awareness that graciously stays. 

We are open
We are not judging, 
We are in this new world of ‘constant recovery’ 
We are trying our best, as this is about ‘tough love; and the way ahead
And saying your prayers before you go to bed.

It’s humbleness poured in a jar, 
This world of sobriety can (and will) take you greatly far. 

These words which arrive from my inner spirit,
God’s spirit from all places, 
This is humbleness, grace and surrender
You are allowing to enter a spiritual arena and a great honourable defender.

Stay in the present 
Don’t allow that feeling of resentment,
Today is a joy so feel graced 
You are deserving and protected at moments to become encased.

We have all been denied 
Some setbacks are bigger than others, 
Others opinionated thoughts you need to bite your lip, as well as a shudder.

Be grateful for today
I am here alone, but it’s all in my head if I feel lonely, 
Yes a hug or a tissue will take away the tear,
As time will eventually remove any cast away fears. 

You are not alone
You have a God that loves you every moment of the day, 
If that spiritual message is aggressive, then that’s not coming from a higher source 
Today is a grateful day
And remove negative suggestions which are often torpid and grey.

Be humbled there is a God that loves you,
Don’t take my word for it, he will eventually arrive
A grateful day where we are blessed, and day we have survived.

No more challenges to endure or anything else to question!

If you need to question 
Then do it to solve,
If you say “I don’t know” then leave the question alone
It’s a solution to seek, the one set in stone.

What does impatience do for you?
Don’t be scared when others rile; 
It’s their impatience, which shall eventually be reflective, and that may take awhile. 

What does impatience do for the situation? If life and death, then you’ll understand,
No one has riled me today…so patience within myself is where I land.

What does being impatience do for you?
Is this a minor victory because you what things done ‘now’?
I leave this with God, that’s the step I shall vow. 

I like to take my time
I don’t always need to be in a rush, 
Life on life terms, that’s all you can ask
It’s their perception, and for thinking that….you aren’t being harsh.

It’s not about ‘getting on with it’ you need to pray to start your day, 
This is about spiritual growth and slay all your fears away. 

Today can be sunny, cold or just difficult to get out of bed,

Or would you prepare that feeling, by looking to be serious and harsh.

Avoid the politics that has dominated your life thus far, 
Fickleness of those conversations which bring you gloom, which doesn’t bring laughter to the soul
As a chuckle shall allow you to flow.

If this was your last day, would you laugh with no holds barred?
Not worrying what words have been said, 
And allowing my head and heart to be overridden from the thoughts which politics has  fed. 

Laugh like this was your last day,
It would be the best way to end, 
And reminiscing the end of times, 
And going out in a blast… which each of us are able to find.

Today everything is so fast
People call it efficiency, I rather crave the ‘balance’, that’s where I shall bask. 

Today all things are too quick, 
Tempers flare up, and often we wonder where that shall depict?

I only have love in my heart today
I only have hope that allows me to stay.
And that hope is with God, the place I pray we aim to be 
Not this aggressive notion… ‘believe in God now, otherwise you shan’t become free’. 

Allow him in your heart
The breaking and the tears shall start a new life, 
It’s about living in eternal hope, not seeking that brittle strife. 

Being in fellowship brings you strength, 
And it’s not about distancing at arms length,
Try to be strong, yes easier said than done 
There’s a hug for you waiting, that’s with the three and one.

You know you have a great friend, when silence becomes part of the mix, 
You don’t have to argue or look for anything to discuss when aiming to fix.

Silence is a humble feeling 
Being quiet is not depriving anyone to look to be stealing.

Silence is a respect of distance 
Silence doesn’t need to include resistance.

The 12 Steps… (A.A.programme)

I had to learn the steps but step ‘1’ was the one I truly needed,
The saying I was powerless to alcohol, or the addiction which got a hold of me,
Now I am recovering and exposed to a new world to see. 

You see, the damage was done 
I couldn’t cope no more, 
To be fair others were powerless too 
As I was wallowing in addiction and the depths of a struggle I was unable to undo. 

22 months on, I am a new man
No head has been removed from my shoulders, just a clear way to see things, 
Life on life terms, and all that sort of different challenges which the world brings.

I recommend this life to anyone today, 
Your higher power shall allow you to stay, 
Away from the addiction,
Away from the trials these situations possess,
You are deserving of a new life and nothing ever less. 

If you are prepared to work then give  this a go, 
You will see the light of a new life, so put in the work regardless how fast and slow.

What does the higher power mean to you?
A chance
A gift
A requirement of a spiritual lift.

For me it’s life as it ought to be,
In your higher power you will find happiness, contentment and the place you should be able to see.

The higher power simply provides
It shall provide you with an awakening to say you are humbly alive.

Forget materialism and all that sort of thing,
It’s a spiritual blessing we look to seek and then sing.

The example of the higher power offers is the gifts which shouldn’t become blind.

Go to a meeting..

Today go to an ‘anonymous’ meeting
The place will save your life, and you shall receive a welcoming greeting
No self depreciating, none of that self harm which aims for your own self defeating. 

Go and say what is on your mind, 
People won’t judge, they will try to empathise as they have been to your place too, 
You don’t need to be around those secular people who don’t understand, nor have a clue.

Go to a meeting, 
It will be the best thing you can do today,
The main share of the story is what you have experience in some point in your life; so you will be okay.

Go to an anonymous meeting, 
Release the words which in your head the locked in your heart, 
The moment of release could simply be the beginning of a brand new start.

Difficult days

Some days are difficult 
Some days are full of light, 
Some days we can be very impatient, but expect to come through any fight. 

Some days we lose somebody we love and want them back,
Out lives have turned around, and wonder if God has anymore slack.

Some days you are blessed with God’s grace
Some days you are humbled but still need a warm embrace. 

Some days you are fighting a losing battle, 
Yet some days you embroil with ‘he or she said’, that kind of tittle tattle.

Some days you are held together by faith 
And some days you are managing the struggles you are unable to face.

Today you are here, isn’t that a blessing?
You are focusing on life, just for the PRESENT, through that there’s no messing. 

Some days you are living in the present and not getting carried away
Some days you are in turmoil, but in heaven there is always a place to stay.

Why did I drink (A.A. Poem)

Why did I drink?
To fit in?
To work out what to do the next?
I couldn’t understand this was taking over my life, as I was increasingly becoming vexed.

Why did I drink? 
To be fair it loosened my mind, 
Eventually I wasn’t being kind to myself, as there’s nothing else I could find.

These words which rhyme, you have heard them countless times before, 
You see, the alcohol made be relaxed, therefore, I thought that was enough for my spiritual core.

Why did I drink?
I missed my Dad who passed away, 
I couldn’t communicate with the people who I wanted to, but emotionally wasn’t able to stay.

Why did I drink?
Did I drink to be happy?
Did I drink to forget?
I wanted God to take me away , as there was no button to reset. 

I had that moment where I didn’t know where to turn,
I have met so many people in A.A., as this spiritual programme encouraged me to discern.

I need the rooms today
I need the rooms to keep me sober,
All I have is today, that’s all! A new life that is wonderful until God says it is over.

I am talking to you..

Yes,.. I am talking to you
I may not be rich,
I may not be poor, 
I may not be handsome… well others say I am.. but  is my heart that I prefer others to explore.

I am talking to you because you are beautiful
Brilliant and and delightful,
I am not here to comment on others looks
Just the size of their heart, 
And if you don’t understand these words… I suggest today you should learn and restart.

Don’t put others down to lift your mood,
I think it’s fickle and gossiy, actually soullessly rude.

You see today, I am lifting you up
I don’t care how you look
Or what you have done, 
I know you are a child of God… and through him… you will be able to see the three in one.

Today you have a place in my heart
I don’t have to know you, you know me,
I have been broken and left in the gutter, 
As today I have God in my heart, so I hope you take homage from these words that I mutter.

Writing away

Writing away, scribing what’s in your heart and mind 
The feeling of spiritual liberation brings to your heart what is kind.

Writing with you heart
Connecting to your head, 
The words will slowly flow, don’t be apprehensive.. this is a connection which is allowed to be read. 

You may offend 
But you are speaking from within, 
You don’t need to suppress, just speak you mind from what’s in your heart
Don’t worry about offending, as long as you do not cause harm to yourself or others.. those words can be put to the side, in a basket or cart.

Write with Love 
And and write with hope, 
And if you are angry, then let that out too, 
Turn a negative into a positive… we all want to be well, don’t you?

When all fails… then pray

We all belong to a place of peace
But some of us need to intensity the beast, 

The beast can be within us, 
To cause the chaos which is inside,
Needing excitement, and requiring a manic ride. 

We all need peace,
But we need to laugh as well, 
At others expense? Just like Daily mail readers they don’t have a story to read, they simply reiterate the headline which the words tell. 

Think about it?
People look for gossip need to create their own story, 
when in fact God provides you with hope, but he takes the glory.

We can’t take all the adulation, I prefer to give it to God, 
If these words offend, then I am sorry to a certain extent, 
As long I live this as my last day… as I have no time to resent.

Strong enough!

You are on this earth for so long
So be strong 
And be positive
And if it’s not in your nature to be like this,
Then you are simply a prayer away from what you can truly miss.

Be strong for you
Be strong for the people you meet today,
We all know this isn’t sustainable all of the time, 
Yet seek and pray for the strength you have inside
God will always duly and humbly provide. 

Does it matter if you believe in a higher power or not!
Sometimes you need to hone into your spiritual strength with the limits that present themselves with all that you have got. 

You are not here to moan
To over procrastinate this life God has provided, 
And don’t think about being negative.. that hurts and is often subsided.

I end these words right here,
Remember it’s not all always about you,
It’s about you and others in this life which you embark, 
Remember selfishness means ‘being for one’s own desires’
I rather encourage you to be strong.. that’s where the true meaning of strength is to be admired.

It’s a start

Live just for today
It’s a start when you just need to try,
No question, or even wonder why?

Live for today
There is hope, despite what you may believe, 
Living is a powerful tool where you can spiritually receive. 

Live for today
And no questions ever need to be asked, 
No riling or fickleness, nothing in life ever lasts. 

You are only promised this moment, this is what you have right now,
There is no returns from goodness or mistakes made, 
Today will be another memory, as life in your higher power shall never fade.

Never claim time back

You don’t have to be smart to know you can’t claim time back
But you need to reflect that this is beyond your capacity, and something you are never able to retract. 

Leaving on good terms
Or leaving on the bad, 
The reflection comes with a prayer,
One day, you will see the one’s’ you have lost, so there’s always an opportunity to discern and declare. 

Say that you are ‘sorry’ 
Or say, ‘what will be, will be’,
I know by the grace of God we can all be reflective, and generally the memory shall return for us to see.

You can’t always say: “if you don’t say it now, I’ll forget”
It’s just that we can’t claim the time back, but there’s always the time to reset.

Claiming back time is not possible to be fair,
Because time stands still for no one, which  most of us can agree 
Respect the time can only change for the best,
God’s aptitude is second to none, unlike the rest.

Past times

We all need to have a hobby 
Or aim to make our bodies and minds spiritually moving,
Some of us revel by being reactive
And others are more methodical and proactive. 

I am the latter 
I want to work on my patience, that is why!
If I am bit slower in what I do…!
Then I can reflect and pray to God in the next task I am set to imbue. 

It’s about patience 
And it’s about avoid the hamster wheel, 
I need to have a clear plan but take it a day at a time, 
Peace on earth, that’s a motive which is far more sublime. 

It’s a journey
So enjoy it day by day,
I don’t need to have my opinion questioned, 
those remarks can either stay or be seen as lessened.

It’s about keeping your focus 
So kind to the mind, heart and soul,
I can’t be bothered arguing anymore, so relax and reflect onto the passage ahead 
Stay humble and be at peace through your higher power, which has always led.

Greetings on this day..

We need to celebrate
This poem may or may not be for you, 
It’s time to start being positive, we know the world is broken, let’s do our part to restore parity and ensue.

We need to be joyous
But I understand if you are feeling low and sad,
I miss the people that have left me, but the fact they are no longer in pain…makes me feel spiritually glad.

We can be serious, 
And act like kids all the time, 
We may have had it all, the cars, the house and fancy gadget 
But when these items do not work.. we often say the word ‘dame it!”

I thank my Father in heaven for lighten up my day
I pray for negative thoughts to remove themselves immediately as they have no place to stay.

I pray that you find solace for this poem, 
From a person who has been broken so many times in the past, 
And that one I’ll be with God, and that on earth I no longer need to wear a mask.

Some pray for peace
Some pray for financial help, 
Some pray for wisdom to guide them through
And that these words are blessings put on you. 

Some pray for light
And some pray for hope, 
Some pray to stop addiction, and not go down that lonely rope.

Some pray for kindness
Some pray to help others without gossip attached, 
Some pray for a revelation, and there is nothing in this world which can be matched. 

Some pray for quiet
Some pray for the light of day,
Some pray for a new start… and that today is the start of all to be ‘just okay’.

I prayed for a blessed life, despite the past,
As good and bad memories shall never last.

Live and accept there is a new beginning ahead,
As the past you cannot bring back,
There is hope for us all, we need to reflect and not always retract. 

It’s about you and God,
The conversation between you and the Father today, 
It’s a place I am honed into rather than delve into myself with the general nonsense I would say. 

It’s about hope and your journey right now today,
As no self-righteousness needs to be felt at all, 
Leave the battle with God, as through that you shan’t at all fall.

One of those diabetes days….

This time of year I struggle with my diabetes. 
It’s not about being overweight, or being stick thin, 
This is about your auto immune system being attacked constantly within. 

You see, it‘a life… unless their is a solution there is nothing you can do,
This is about science and God working together, to resolve this condition that is attacking people like me… and perhaps you.

Today, it was raining and also it felt really cold,
my auto immune system was constantly attacked, I ate the sugar that was with me but that was a temporary reprieve, 
I am at home now, resting and at peace and slightly relieved.

This condition will be the killer of me,
But I need to stay with God, the one who has supported me through thick and thin
One day this condition will be no longer…but that comes with prayer from within.

Release

Releasing your feelings is when…:
Some people shout
Some peope moan, 
Some people acknowledge, and other feelings we can’t identity in ourselves, therefore are unknown. 

Some people write
Some people, stop and reflect, 
Some people pray to God… and ask: “Father reveal yourself… I know I have never been… perfect.”

Some people seek to be the centre of attention, 
Some people want to know if there’s something ‘out there’, 
Why do people seek something they can’t see… but blame a God they don’t believe is there,
These are thoughts I feel I needed to share.

Some people need to let go,
Some people are searching for answers, but won’t reveal themselves to grow,
Some people need to accept that life isn’t fair, 
Learn through the battles you are presented with, God is always there. 

How many times, have I said God is here today
The pain is hard to manage, especially when you feel vulnerable and lonely,
Until we realise it’s about God and your faith in him
This complaining that you release shall be put in the bin.

An angel is always their

The home in heaven, now I have arrived,
Destined to reach a peaceful place,
No longer in pain, the Earth guides us to this spiritual home in order to embrace.

The people who have left
There shall eventually be peace in our hearts, 
The chaos of the world will always surround, but we don’t need to be apart.

Don’t worry, I am okay and you shall be too;
God’s guidance is the place we detect
Calming our heartbeat doesn’t mean we are aiming to be perfect. 

Remember, we have loved but never lost,
God’s timing is part of our day to day,
My Angel, I send a blessing for you now,
We all love you, and thank you for us to allow.

Went on that road

I didn’t expect it, to be absolutely fair 
I wanted to die and end it there.
It was 2023 and my Dad unexpectedly passed away,
I didn’t want to reach out nor did I want to stay.

It was chaos
I was hurting in my heart,
Alcohol became my best friend, it calmed me down… my family, those chaotic Greeks were not calming at all from the start.

The drink took over
I made it my best friend, 
It was a sad time as all the uncertainty was becoming so real, I even felt my God wasn’t there to depend on, as that felt surreal.

I was scared 
I didn’t need the chaos inside my head,
The drink was taking over as all I wanted for God to take me instead. 

People cared but I felt people expect me to snap out of this quick,
I can only thank my God today for taking away my addiction, even though I couldn’t depict.

Let go and trust in him…

However you perceive God to be? 
Let go and have that touch of faith, 
It’s about praying and discerning in order to remove the haste.

It’s all about today and be grateful through a prayer, 
There is an omnipresence, which is available to share. 

Leave it to the God of your understanding,
Today can and will be a beautiful day,
Building resentments generally have no place in your head to relay.

I now safeguard my heart, I now don’t despise, 
I need to lean on the God of my understanding every second of the day,
I pray for the same for you.., this new day shall have God’s final say.

Do you remember???

Do we remember the day when neighbours side to speak to each other, 
‘Top of the Pops’ brought a smile to all our faces, 
Music was uplifting back then and took us to fantasy places. 

Things were perfect, even back then
But they were managble and people looked out for their friends, 
There was Youth training schemes to get youngsters the start to be on their way,
When these youngsters went to college one day a week,
As a trade took them to places which they often flourished and rightly peaked.

Do you remember people were more patient?
And phones were a thing we had indoors, 
And the TV has 3 or 4 channels, these things were more manageable during these times…as we wanted no more.

It wasn’t perfect, 
Technology didn’t dictate what we did day to day, 
We wouldn’t say ‘I’ll send you an email’ from what was already discussed
We learned to listen and through those methods we were able to trust. 

The pace was slower
And yes, people were limited in their thinking to a degree,
It was because we did more physical things and able to be.

We learned to have a pen and paper with us at all times,
Where we jotted information by having a trained memory, which held information as google search engine wasn’t around 
And we learned to be more vigilent and learned to be with our friends, to keep their feet more on the ground.

Remember the 1990s

Do you remember when we dialled up to get the internet started?
And we had a compact disc to release the music we felt uplifting and delved wholehearted. 

Do you remember the big TVs, that were heavy and needed two of you to lift?
And the Nokia 3210, the mobile phone which was indestructible like a mini brick,
And those days we put the phone down and didn’t pick it up until the following morning, 
Those were the days when the ‘ping’ from our phones rarely started calling. 

There was ‘The Word’, ‘Big Breakfast’ and Saturday daytime TV,
We didn’t feel compelled to our phones to check emails and or texts,
We had letters which came from a written list,
A physical thing we often couldn’t miss.

We had ‘Take That’, with ‘pray’ and  ‘relight my fire’,
We had night clubs and a kebab afterwards, those things we didn’t need but always desired.

He had fun and knew how to focus more,
Yes, the 90s had it quirks and way of living,
But those were the days we had teletext, our version of the latest news
Those were the day we didn’t need smartphones to make us feel amused.

A moment of patience

A moment of patience is all that we ask;
But it always starts with us,
And if the other person isn’t reciprocal, then leave them and acknowledge they are not the person to trust.

It’s about patience 
It’s about learning to do this work on yourself and someone you trust.. bit by bit,
We are all working on ourselves day by day, as this is a daily chore,
I prefer to learn to be a bit more patient..if not that then mountains galore.

There are some people I want to be around,
Some people I do not want because of the patience they may lack, 
As we can all accept people who are having a good day,
But those who are struggling; many of us won’t want them to stay.

Be patient 
Be kind,
Pray for them from afar, 
You don’t need to seek anyone’s approval, and too f.. you don’t need to be on yourself.. that hard.
