Housing in Lewisham

tt’s pretty dire getting a place in the London borough of Lewisham
Are we suppose to decompose and waste away,
Private rents is a national problem as local people like appear not allowed to stay.

Come on! I am 53 years old
I am struggling with this nonsense,
Turned away from Housing advise, mental health groups and legal aid
And there is the system in the council which appears to me persistently frayed.

I am only want a little flat to live,
But I am a single man with no attachments to protect,
But I live with type 1 diabetes, i rely on insulin to keep me alive
Do the council care about that… no.. but do I need to live outside to attempt to survive.

Life has it’s twists and turns
Rejection seems to be the order of the day,
People in service following a policy which doesn’t match
Personally I need to persist, as I refuse to detach.

I won’t be the first or last person to fast these fights
I simply pray for something to change,
Or does the system wants to exacerbate your mental health… and make become deranged.

The once impossible is possible

What do you want? A dream to turn real,  Make this happen and treat the victory afterwards as a moment that is surreal. It’s a power higher...
