Just want a day off (Diabetes poem)

Can’t we have a day off from this condition?
Calculating carbs before injection,
And there is the formula to action we are always introduced,
And hoping that your sugars won’t go high or low, in what might appear in-direct abuse.

It’s not easy, as life needs to be managed as well
This is a branch to deal with, as I have plenty of hypo stories to tell.

I just want to eat without injecting or programme numbers into a pump controller,
Don’t get me wrong, I have learned a lot about this condition, especially when you become stoic and prevent other people getting closer.

It’s a journey, and it needs to be embraced without thinking too much about this disease
And you just want to have a day off, not an off day as this struggle isn’t a breeze.

The struggles are there
The people around won’t always underhand what you are feeling,
They might say: “I can’t live with that.” “Great” I would say to myself not knowing what to do next,
Just a day at a time with this condition, as the moments faced won’t always be perfect.
