Getting on with it… Well that’s what you would have thought?

when you have this condition called Diabetes
You need to live with it a day at at time,
I know the practicalities but you can’t predict the future, and to be honest the hypos attacks are not fine.

You see, when I wake up my sugars start to plummet
I have learned not to panic, and you will be asked to look after others during this hypo and hyper phase,
This is where it becomes tricky, as you need to stabilise the frazzled levels of the brain.

You scoff sweet galore
More and more, but that predictably makes your sugars rise,
For those who have this condition this won’t come across at all as bit of a surprise.

The condition is difficult at the best of times
We are blinded by the fact that an attack could come out of nowhere, as the next minute you shan’t be fine.

They have linked the condition to mental health struggles
As the unpredictability of this condition causes many things to psychologically overcome
But life has to be lived with calm and embrace
This condition isn’t just for Christmas this can take your mind all over the place.

So be positive
So be stoic and don’t expect people to understand,
People have said to me: “They can’t live with this”, but then again what do they know?
I am here to to say: “I am not diabetic, I am a person with diabetes”, two verses which are different from each other
The struggle shall always be there, just remain calm, ignore silly remarks.. and don’t allow anyone to cause you any bother.
