This condition can be an almighty struggle,
My pancreas and red blood cells that no longer produce insulin and still be alive is a blessing,
We thank the legends of Banting, McCleod and Co., who did the trials and the testing.
Years ago you would enter the heavens within 6-12 months,
The management of blood sugars is most infuriating,
Yet the outcome to still be here, is most exhilarating.
If you opt to go on pens or pump, this is the life you need to get use to,
You won’t entirely be on point and you will have a couple of bad days,
Pray that one day for ann internal pancreas which can secrete the insulin and your eyes and feet are able to remain.
