Unexpected hypo

People say: “are you meant to eat that?”
don’t we as service users of diabetes struggle enough?
the hypos are quite awkward and are exceptionally tough.

I hate this condition,
And scared I won’t be protected,
people can’t support my struggles
compassion just add to the discombobulated muddles.

These hypos and counting carbs is the ultimate bane,
Imagine, once if you were diagnosed with this condition, your life expectancy would be 6-12 months, well that’s insane!

I count my blessings insulin is created,
but living with it I gave often hated.
I’ve often wanted people to leave me alone, when hypos hit the body and mind,
I struggle endlessly, and scared one day I shall become blind.

I live with calm
and others says I am not, what do they know, they don’t live with an auto-deficiency attack
I pray, as I know my stubbornness is my guide… and shan’t lack.
