We cried
We looked at humour objectively and refused to sigh.

Very uplifting and a little bit more.
England struggled in the football since that epic victory in 1966,
The Brazilians performed artistry… just like the Dutch
And showed the game of peace that spiritual touch.
McEnroe, Connors and Borg took the centre court stage
Their tennis talents entertained the world through many skills that was a wide range.
TV programme were scheduled
And there was teletext or ceefax to tell us the latest
And we learned off each other through periods that was safest.
We learned the hard way
Pen, paper and a radio to keep us sane,
As opening a newspaper brought us contentment and politics to refrain.
