Generation to generation

​We all struggle with the generation blend,
Advanced in this era and less advanced before 
Yet in the past we seemed to have more. 

We talk to each other 
Wrote a letter to a dear friend,
You had three or four channels on the television 
And if you wanted to call someone you required permission. 

Yes, there were struggles 
Bigotry was in the mix of those days,
I pray to God for balance as time is one to stay. 

People were hostile 
And hatred is like it was today, 
But we managed the cards that we were dealt, 
As today’s advances is something else.

Love is the key
Love is the hope, and then seek for more,
Life could have been good for you or even a bit sore. 

Surround yourself with positive people 
And remember you have to give that energy back, 
Time here is only temporary and within your inner depths you shan’t slack.

Start your day with prayer or meditation,
Look towards your higher power for gratification,
So today is a blessing 
And that whatever happens afterwards  isn’t messing.

​When people aren’t for you,
Don’t procrastinate.. no point,  the answer is often in the clue.

Some are argumentative 
Strong opinions which rile a debate, 
People can f.ck off with that notion, I am already in a 2 and 8 (state)🤣.

Health discussion is more my thing, 
talking sport and entertainment to lighten the mind, 
some contents is relatable, this is the kind I rather speak of…  that’s what I find. 

People can be rude
and people can be polite, 
people being balanced and rationalising the right of way
may God be with you… at the end of the day.

A problem that’s worth nothing

​Seeing a problem you are entering into a debate, 
I rather say nothing, that’s my perennial want for my mental state. 

Opinions are just opinions 

Convincing or persuading can cause potential harm,

It’s stepping into the uncomfortable; that kind of thing is challenging and removes any calm.

Politics is not politics now

People are not served to receive what is fair,

People lying to get benefits, and we as parents/guardians advise our children to tell the truth

There’s a contradiction which causes us to fall into that mood. 

Debates are there to tease out the truth, 

I see the point of that

It’s when someone already has their agenda in their head, 

Humility immediately goes of bed.

​We can only encourage
Even the ones who feel depleted, 
In your higher power you shall never be seen as defeated. 

Continue to fight 
There is always an awaiting light, 
Tomorrow is never promised, despite the greatest of intent, 
Others will try to rile, there always a way to circumvent.

I waiting for that hug 
Even though I feel I don’t deserve 
I am here for l you Father, the one I truly serve.

I may distance myself from you,m; you don’t share my pain nor I share yours too, 
I have my time to pray for you and I

Dark into the light

​When you are in the dark you don’t believe you will one day see the light
Yet there is hope for us all, it doesn’t matter how we overcome the fight. 

Love is the powerful key
Love is the want we seek but can’t always find,
But there is hope always; you might be able to look yet the reality you seek is often behind. 

The dark is there because God has won’t the fight 
Whoever you perceive God to be, 
Some people are into money and greed, I prefer to have a coffee, cake and sit down and simply being me. 

The dark hasn’t been your friend 
It’s something we all need to walk past,
Today is a new day and remember that word love shall always last.

We have all been there, 
The chant, the chaos that with that fickle behaviour 
Then you get tired and start choose to withdraw

You see, reflection is part of life 
We can’t control ‘people, situations and things’
No matter how controlling you are, even what to the table you are able to bring.

So we let go,
Try a laid back approach,
Intensity is part of people’s lives,
That don’t understand calm behaviour and look to cause strife.

​Don’t worry about tomorrow

I suppose we look to life and keen to learn 
People breaking others and thinking about themselves,

Letting others in doesn’t always mean you shall be free!

But how do we evolve without connection? 
None of us can claim to be perfection;
Yet people come into our circle, some are good and others are bad..
Time to reflect on love, even ‘love making’  comes into essence which can make any of us go mad!

Tiredness always creeps in, that is a definitive fact

​If I can put love in jar
And tighten the lid,
I’ll save it for us all, as negatively I delightfully rid.

It’s been an ordeal 
As tomorrow shall soon be behind, 
So I went to the gym and worked hard 
And then spent time at church, and felt I needed to safeguard. 

I wish love was everyday
But there is so much uncertainty around, 
I don’t want to drain anyone’s energy, hence the tragedy when I act like a clown. 

I want to be at peace and spend time with God, 
the power will lift me as now I feel like shite, 
I need his love locked in a jar… and pour it with all my might.

​I can’t rely on others 
Even through their greatest of intent,
I’ve been hurt too many times to have faith in woman or man, hence why I go for hell bent. 

People may relate and others won’t 
I know that my actions aim to lash out, but God says ‘don’t’.

Life with this condition isn't all bad

We just struggle with our auto immunity, and sometimes we can go mad. 

 

And their people who treat you like a c.nt!

When we struggle with our physiology and mental health, so there might be a knife waiting for you so go away before I eventually hunt 🤣. 

 

This life can be unfair, but that is life in general 

People are not there to support, especially your diabetes hypo need, 

it shows people can be selfish, as their apathy tends to breed. 

 

So us with an autoimmune attack that attacks the mind

It's our faith in God that can calm us down... well that's that I find. 

 

So manage the carb counting, injecting and food to consume,

this condition is very controlling, well! that is what I presume.

It’s feels like yesterday (For my Thea Despo❤️)

​Hi Thea, how are you today? 
I still you like many others who are around 
I know you are looking over the ones you love…that would be you all over.. I found. 

You were a calm and beautiful soul
You made me feel comfortable when I felt tired, 
You supported me when I faced anxiousness 
You were the archetypal who I looked up too,
You said: “go and make yourself a cup of tea and be next to me”, 
There are not many people like you today, that’s what I see.

You would have been 81 today 
Or should I be still counting the age like if you are still around? 
You were my friend, family member and someone I love, even accepted me when I started to clown.

We all miss you… that’s without a shadow of doubt;
The high rate ones are still here making plenty of noise, 
You were real, humble, loving and a shrewd business woman with plenty of poise. 

We miss you, that won’t ever stop
And one day we will all be together with a welcome hug,
Thank you for your life, as today I was unable to shrug.

You don't have to be understood… (AA Poem)

​When recovering you need to understand why?
You don’t need to prove yourself to anyone, as the battle started on day 1;
This journey isn’t particularly kind nor could be fun. 

We live to learn why we do what we do,
I know I didn’t want to speak to anyone when having a drink;
I felt others didn’t understand, so the alcohol numbed my head in order to escape and not think.

I wanted to relax
Be at peace with this lovely taste in my mouth,
And there was the powder that gave me an almighty lift,
I was very dangerous to be around, as the want to live wasn’t there… nor could I stay on solid ground. 

You go through this life asking ‘why’, ‘what’ and ‘hope’
Do any of us really know the answer when addictions hit you hard,
We are not from a Utopia society, where things are not ‘right’
This is a new life to overcome this addiction journey, as sobriety has now become our new life.

Drink and drugs didn’t argue with me, as they were my best friend,

I have met some big personalities on the way 
And like most people; you will make a friend, and their are others you won’t understand,
The aim of recovery is to find and rebuilt the person waiting to come out
Everyone on this path needs to know what this road is all about. 

There is the 12 steps or S.M.A.R.T.  way to help you to overcome 
The controlling self has lost its way, 
Be open to your addictions, as recovery is here to stay.

Push them away, or block them, they can be prayed for as they are no longer your friend.

People must leave your circle
Only a good few shall stay around, 
There is a blessing somewhere through these words, as place your feet firmly on solid ground.

Yesterday is history 
And tomorrow is a mystery, 
So say goodbye to people you don’t want to be around, 
You haven’t lost anything: within you, you have simply found.

​When Dad died I know I haven’t been the same
And nothing on this earth shall bring him back again.

But I take heart that he is not on a earth that is so tremendously fast, worrisome and fiercely debating
I wouldn’t want him to be part of any of this, that would cause a vessel to burst and start hating.

Now we aren’t calm and we go at the speed of knots,
We embrace in the word ‘drama’, when the word should be used for a play that has been recorded or shot. 

I look forward to the day when I am no longer here,
I won’t look to end my life at this moment in time, as there is plenty more words to share.

We live in audacious times when being a man you shouldn’t show you are tough!

​People being around can be a blessing

Others are not, as they are not around for that once familiar chat,
I miss my Dad for instance; that chat was brief, but that is where it’s at.

Leaving on good terms as you don’t even need to know ‘how’.

We can all work on patience

As time lapses and people rob others time,
None of us get it perfect like a dated glass of vinegary wine.

So regard others,

people can be quite fickle at times, as the world isn’t solely focused on solely you.

​Working on yourself is a daily trait
You are who you are, this isn’t always about fate. 

Embrace the person you’ve become 
People will point the negative that will see in you, 
Or they would say “you are impatient”, well tell me if the person who doesn’t need to work on themself, the need a formula to include.

We are all work in progress
We have all fallen down, no matter what,
Some are more hard on themselves, that’s who they are
They need to find the solution to find what they can do next
This is more than sending an articulate text.

Some people need to relax
But it is easily said that done for a few, 
The advice may be genuine but look to yourself and find solace in your higher power… which you are able to pursue.

An area which is part of the Lewisham borough, 
A once relaxed place which is open and where people were considerate and thorough. 

The stress you can feel
The angst when the calmness is no longer here, 
It’s a frantic town where people over talk one another, which now the rest of the world does,
The tension to exacerbate mental health, which you often need to brush. 

Yet we do need stress to function day to day,
Temperaments are not exemplar and need to stay away. 

The place where there is a Cat sitting in the centre of the town, 
And there were shops like ‘Woolworths’, ‘WH Smiths’, ‘Comets’ and several banks that spring to mind,
Reminiscing good memories which were once tied.

Good comes with the Bad
And hey!! The bad does need to stop, 
Authorities need to make a decision and halt this fickle rot.

Don’t compare

​Bad things happen to Good people 
Does that make us weak? 
There is a journey with your name on it, so step out of your comfort zone and attempt to see the goodness we ought to seek.

Nothing wrong being weak, but our higher power can and will make us strong, 
This is a free will you have opened yourself up too, this is more than the connection when we eventually come along. 

We are who we are
Poor choices will take place, 
Remove yourself from people who cause more harm than good,
Despite their place in the family, so release the tears,
Release any of your damaging fears. 

You may believe in God.. or not at all,
We have all been victims of hurtful words or scathing attacks, 
Leave the negative people in your life as walking away isn’t a weakness at all,
Where pride takes place before the fall.

​thank you for this day
People from the past and in the present are always in our thoughts every step of the way. 

People you shall leave 
People shall stay, 
I pray to God today’s a blessing 
And that today none of us are messing. 

I thank you for today
As I push people away because I need time on my own, 
Sometimes I need silence, to be meditative, and pray to God that I choose to be alone. 

Be he will be there 
Every step of the way, 
You are given free will after all, 
There shall always be storms.. but then again he is theirs …  it’s your call?

On the floor, 
Or do I get lifted and find?
I am no longer timid nor blind. 

The inventory needs to be written 
Struggling for outcomes, no longer your hand needs to be bitten. 

You are here today working out answers you can’t find
I look to God for solutions from my blind faith, which doesn’t need to be always kind. 

Life is tough
Life can be a blessing, 
No more arguing with others about politics or current affairs which causes harm
I am not on that journey anymore.. I need peace, so the initial can always be disarmed.

​Going to a AA, NA, OA or CA room 
You are opening a new door of freedom, not the aspect to fall into doom. 

You are opening your hearts
You are around people that are on the same road. 
No one is looking down at you, nor others choose to look to goad. 

I believe in science but I believe in the spirit more
I am not around people who say the word ‘ok’ and that’s it, 
You are on this journey where others relate to you, and you are no longer in bits.

We have all f.cked up, that is what the addiction does, 
Looking to God for answers, the only one you can ultimately trust. 

You may believe there is something out there
You may call it a name for a higher power
Remember, we are in this together if you ‘work it’ with all you’ve got
The struggles come for a reason..through that it’s worth a shot.

Ostracising

​You remove yourself from people
It hurts at the time, or sometimes it doesn’t
We are all working out who are the best people to be around 
For me I am still working on it.. that’s the difficulty… which is profound. 

I want to close myself in a shell 
I want to remove myself from others chaos because of temperamental struggle, 
They can impact on your mental health too.. and cause you to get into a muddle.

Some people are for you
And you can accept that to a degree, 
Sometimes you remove yourself from family members whom you love… but consequently it’s between you and God with the aim to be free. 

Love is love
And pray comes from afar,
I love the spiritual world from which I belong, 
I don’t care of the mistakes I’ve made in the past
God is my creator, as pray my honour towards him always last.

​I love you Ruth
This isn’t a template that I have just written, 
This is a movement from God and not through my heart which is constantly bitten.

I can only explain these feelings in a poem 
I can only explain it this way, 
I am crying at the moment, and perhaps you are too
I asked God, why me…? From that moment he asked me to connect with you. 

But I love you, I can’t remove that feeling
It’s a message to keep going and seeing the light,

A system.. addictions pathway

​A system can come from anything
The aim is to support,
Does there need to be a sign posting service? or a way to get on with the work?
The fact is that person and provider needs to work together to avoid anything else going berserk 

The politics is hard to fathom
The statutory bodies should inevitably need to take account,
We are looking to streamline systems
So how do we begin? 
Looking to centralise systems again for multidisciplinary teams to act,
When the pathway should always be simple, and not just a matter of fact. 

The exchange of ideas is useful 
The data needs to be presented for us to be aware;
The panic stations often arise, as we need to be human in our approach… to be fair.

For me… ? it’s how we can be treated
when in dire need for help,
Communication should always be simple.. haven’t we all be in a place where we have “yelped”.

Finding inner peace

​The place of contentment is ultimately inner peace 
The people that cause the chaos
Know no difference, 
They want to get inside your head
Lay that concept immediately to bed. 

Laugh at the stupid 
Because that is what they are, 
Shit stirrers will always be among us, they have a place… and that is to stay far. 

They will soon be gone and so will you, 
They think they are funny, yet their lives are empty, so let do what they do. 

It’s about perception 
That doesn’t belong to them, not you, 
You are the creator of your destiny, the place only ‘you’ can pursue.

​Don’t be too hard on yourself 
As these are words I say to myself too, 
I was told I was useless as a child, hence my trauma and fighting the anger which I imbued. 

Now I am open
Say it as it is, 
I am not for everyone, and thought were against me,
I know who my friends are, as the w@nkers can be set free.

I am not talking to you for who is reading this, 
As this message isn’t sent to the person it’s aimed, 
I am just releasing these words, as I have already face the onslaught with the aim to be tamed. 

We are who we are, that’s how we are made
If you have a hang up, then pray on it.. your higher power shall stem the horror of a ‘tirade’

Today is for you to do as little or as much as you want, 
This life is a step by step process, haven’t you faced enough taught?

​Walk in my shoes for a day
You shall know if I am sad or not okay.

I am okay when the ‘right’ people are around
Difficult conversations can provoke, that side of me I now know how to manage, I found. 

Fast forward your life, 
See what is in front,
People can be maternal and show a level of care, 
You see I am not seeking a Mother, not even a friend 
I know it’s God and my Yiayia (Nan in Greek) for whom I choose to comprehend. 

I leave people be
And they can do the same for I, 
I know there are good people out there, 
But does anyone of us know each other truly?
It’s only the higher power who defiant as I am not aiming that rudely.
