I remember the day I was first diagnosed with this condition
Struggling to accept the facts, and that horrid hypoglycaemic attacks, that rendition.
Some people panicked when I suffered an attack
Some couldn’t take the anger I needed in order to release and live,
Yet the idea to keep on going is what people like me need to live with.
Some people are considerate
Some f@cking useless and look at you without a clue,
Advice? F@ck them off, this road you need to continue andensue.
The preparation
The determination which comes with stoic strength,
The determined attitude which needs to come at arm’s length.
Today I celebrate Frederick Banting
The man who created the insulin formula to save people like myself’s life,
When the hypos take place and the feeling of awfulness surrounds
Please stop, relax and do nothing… that’s what I have discovered and found.
“Happy world diabetes day, and a person who lives with it”
